Tirupur: The perpetrator of a heinous rape crime against an eight-year old girl in Tirupur's Jothi Nagar was sentenced to seven years imprisonment and slapped with a fine of Rs.10,000.

According to reports, Hanifa, a 68-year old man from the neighbourhood lured the girl who was playing outside her home, and raped her inside his home. The traumatised girl informed her parents who immediately filed a complaint against Hanifa at the Women's police station at Veerapandi in Tirupur. The Tirupur District Women's Court heard the case and delivered the judgement of a seven year jail term along with a fine of Rs.10,000 for Hanifa.
