Coimbatore: Over 100 contractors of Bangalore-based Ola taxi aggregator laid siege to the R.S. Puram office on Wednesday demanding to grant them the contract amount agreed upon by both parties.
"Out of the 500 Ola taxis that operate in the city, more than 100 taxis are on a contract basis. We give Ola Rs.900 per day and 25 percent of the customer's ride amount as commission to the company. In turn, Ola used to give us Rs.3.50 to Rs. 4 as bonus commission, whereas now the company has announced that it will give us only 25 paise as bonus commission", alleged a contractor.

He also added that "Following our disapproval, the company promised to arrive at a fair compensation. To the contrary, Ola has now announced to pay us only 25 paise only as the bonus commission.
"Trusting the company, we have purchased vehicles on loans. Though the income from Ola was insufficient for our livelihood, we continued to work, as we own the cars. But now we can no longer run the vehicles at a loss," lamented the contractors.
