Coimbatore: The City Police have strictly warned people against spreading rumours regarding serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore.
In the past week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Police Department have been conducting several raids as part of investigating a few men who are allegedly in connection with ISIS.
"Based on this, rumour mongers have called out names of prominent temples and churches in the city stating that terrorists had masterminded terror attacks at those places. The list of such religious places was even widely circulated in WhatsApp creating unnecessary panic among the public which is totally baseless", said a senior police officer.
He also opined that such unattested information not only triggers panic among the people but also disturbs the harmony of the city.
The senior police officer rubbished the rumours and strictly warned people to refrain from believing and spreading such unwarranted and sensitive information. He noted that the Cyber Crime department is closely monitoring the rumour mongers who would court arrest.
