Coimbatore: More than 500 DMK cadres along with DMK MLA N.Karthick were arrested following the protest organised in front of CCMC on Wednesday.
The protestors raised demands to withdraw the water distribution contract given to Suez for 24x7 water supply in 100 wards of Coimbatore corporation.
The DMK MLA also demanded the resignation of Minister S. P. Velumani alleging him as the reason for acute water shortage in the city and TN, as a whole. The other demand included regulating water supply in the city.
All protesting cadres were courted arrested and taken to a nearby marriage hall in Ukkadam. Traffic was disturbed in town hall for nearly an hour due to the protest.
