While Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took their oaths in Hindi, some MPs preferred to do so in various regional languages.

The 38 MPs from Tamil Nadu including DMK's Kalanithi Veerasamy, Dayanidhi Maran, T R Balu, Selvam, Tamilacchi Thangapandian, Thol Thirumavalavan, Kanimozhi, Jayakumar, the Congress MP from Thiruvallur constituency and ADMK's Ravindranath, son of O Paneer Selvam took their oaths in Tamil.
The DMK, Communist, Congress, and MDMK MPs were sworn in by lauding Tamil, Periyar, Ambedkar, Marx and the late DMK Chief M Karunanidhi. This made the BJP members to utter Jai Sri Ram slogans. The ADMK MP praised MGR and Jayalalitha and 'Vande Mataram' and Jai Hind which garnered a huge applause from BJP members.
