The roads leading from Manjoor to Ooty, Coonoor, Korakundah, Upper Bhavani and Kinnakorai, as well as the roads leading to Emerald and Avalanche areas are lined by huge old trees on either side of the roads. These trees reportedly pose a threat to motorists during monsoon season owing to the fact that they may be uprooted at any given point of time when rains are accompanied by strong winds.
Hence, residents in the area have requested the district authorities to remove the trees along the roadside which could prove hazardous to motorists.
