Tirupur: A bakery in Tirupur was reported to have expired food items which were immediately seized and destroyed by the Food Safety Department officials.
Tirupur: Acting upon a complaint, the food and safety officials on Tuesday raided a bakery and seized expired food items in Tirupur.

Duraipandi, a resident of K N Puram, Palladam in Tirupur District bought a birthday cake for his son from Geetha bakery at Perumpali, Palladam. After the celebrations, some of the guests at the party reportedly vomited, all of a sudden. It was later found that the cake was spoiled. Duraipandi went to the bakery with the leftover cake to enquire about the stale cake but was irked with the rude behaviour of the employees in the bakery.

Duraipandi filed a complaint with the Food Safety Department. A team of food safety officials, led by Kesavaraj inspected the bakery and seized all the expired food items like cake, cold drinks, mushrooms and noodles worth Rs. 10,000.

The food inspectors then destroyed all the seized food items with phenol.
