Coimbatore : Residents of Thekkampatti village in Mettupalayam protested with empty pots in the roads alleging Municipality on disrupted water supply.
Over 50 residents, especially women took to the roads at Pujanganur in Thekkampatti, condemning the PWD officials for not paying heed to their request of supplying drinking water at regular intervals.
"Our village is very close to Bhavani river yet we haven't received water for days. While the officials point at faulty pipeline for the delay in water supply, none have attended to the issue", lamented the villagers.
The Karamadai Police and Circle officer Dhanalakshmi convinced the people and assured appropriate action.
Later, Officer Dhanalakshmi enquired the issue of irregularities and ordered immediate action. Owing to protest, the traffic was halted for a brief time.
