Tirupur : The students of Vikas Vidyalaya and their parents staged a dharna in front of the Tirupur Collectorate and submitted a petition to the Collector stating that the school was demanding Rs. 47,000 for children who had been instructed to be admitted under the Government's Compulsory Education Scheme.

The parents protested saying that their children were not being admitted to Class 1 and were being refused books if money was not paid.

The petitioners condemned the school for flouting Government rules and demanded appropriate action against the school. Only after the Collector reassured the petitioners of taking necessary action, the parents left the Collectorate with their children.
