L&T transforms PHC to health & wellness centre; Collector lauds initiative

Coimbatore : L&T Valves, a wholly owned subsidiary of Engineering and Construction major Larsen & Toubro, has dedicated a renovated “Health & Wellness Centre” at Thirumampalayam, Madukkarai, Coimbatore.

On Saturday, the facility was today formally handed over by the District Collector, Coimbatore, K Rajamani, in the presence of Dr P.G.Bhanumathi, Deputy Director of Health Services, Mahesh Joshi, Chief Executive, L&T Valves as well as other local districts &Health Department officials and representatives of L&T.



'L&T Valves had undertaken the task of renovating the erstwhile Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Thirumampalayam, including electrical, plumbing & painting works and furnishing. The renovated Centre has four bedded postnatal care ward, dedicated dressing & storerooms, patient waiting area, washroom for patients, provision for clean drinking water as well as basic medical & surgical equipment. The improved infrastructure facilities created with CSR support ensured that the PHC, now upgraded as Health & Wellness Centre, meets the guidelines", a release said. 

Speaking on occasion Collector, K. Rajamani, said, “The renovated PHC with CSR support from L&T Valves has now now upgraded as a Health and Wellness Centre, rural residents including ANC/PNC mothers will be able to avail better services. These facilities will go a long way in contributing to improving the quality of healthcare delivery."



The Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr P.G. Bhanumathi and the Chief Executive of L&T Valves, Mahesh Joshi, also addressed the gathering.

On occasion, it was declared that L&T Valves would be extending similar CSR support to improve infrastructure & medical facilities at the Govt. Hospital, Madukkarai, during the current financial year. 

The District Collector appreciated the social development interventions of L&T as a whole in the areas of education, health, vocational skill training and watershed, and assured full support for successful implementation of such programmes.
