Stretching from Maraichettipathi Karaigounder Thottam to Thirumalayampalayam, the road-laying works worth Rs. 1.3 crores which was kick started recently is assumed to largely benefit villagers.
During the inspection, a part of the laid road was dug to check the quality of the first two layers of the tar road.
Speaking after the inspection, the District Collector informed that the department of Urban Development has been carrying out many projects including constructing water tanks, laying water pipelines, installing rain water harvesting, erecting street lights and other essential infrastructural development.
"The continued infrastructural development in rural areas has improved the life of the people. Now, rural areas are almost at par with urban areas. Quality of roads laid in rural areas are being monitored and inspected. Proposal of planting saplings along the newly laid roads are on at full swing."
The Collector added that town Panchayats are advised to take utmost care to transform rural areas into self sufficient living places in terms of infrastructure. "From toilet facilities to Children's park, the Panchayats are working towards upliftment of villages", he noted.
Collector, K. Rajamani urged on proper and timely implementation of government welfare schemes curated for the progress of the society, especially towards development of villages.
"Inspections like these help to identify 100% implementation of schemes and to ensure if the officials are working earnestly", said District Collector K. Rajamani.
Following this, the Collector also inspected the public distribution shops (PDS) to check for quality of the products and also interacted with the public and updated them on the services provided by the government at PDS.
Deputy Director Dwarakanath Singh, Thasildhar Palanisamy and Rural Officer SKM Kathar and others were present.
