Coimbatore : The National Investigation agency (NIA) on Friday has arrested one more person from Coimbatore for his connections with ISIS. The accused has been identified as Y. Shiek Hidayathullah (A-3) aged 38 years, resident of Kulanthai Goundar Street, South Ukkadam, here.
Coimbatore : The National Investigation agency (NIA) on Friday has arrested one more person from Coimbatore for his connections with ISIS. The accused has been identified as Y. Shiek Hidayathullah (A-3) aged 38 years, resident of Kulanthai Goundar Street, South Ukkadam, here.
Based on the inquiry on the incriminating materials recovered during searches and the content of their social media accounts regarding the pro-ISIS activities, Shiek Hidayathullah was arrested today.
He will be produced before the Special Court for NIA Cases, Ernakulam seeking custody.
Scrutiny of the documents from his house, has revealed that A-3 has remained associated with proscribed terrorist organization Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), as well.
NIA had registered a case on May 30 against six accused persons, for their involvement in propagating the ideology of ISIS/ Daish on social media with the intention of recruiting vulnerable youth into ISIS/ Daish for carrying out terrorist attacks in South India especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
On June 12, NIA had conducted searches in this case at seven locations in Coimbatore and seized incriminating material including books and documents from the houses and work places of accused persons.
On the same day, inquiries were held at the NIA office in Race Course and Mohammed Azharuddin, the prime accused and leader of IS module was arrested.
