T Janaki Raman (26), a resident of Salem has filed a complaint on Coimbatore-based Marcos Navamani who had reportedly defrauded him of almost two lakhs and his original passport. The fraudster was introduced to him by Vishnu Priya, another resident from Salem.
T Janaki Raman accused Marcos Navamani of tricking him to part with Rs. 1,90,000 and his original passport on the pretext of getting him a job in Hong Kong. It is to be noted that Janaki Raman met Marcos Navamani at his NEXG Print Service office at Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. He had allegedly told Janaki Raman that his office had branches in Bangalore, Hosur and Ooty and has in hand about 100 such passports that are being sent together for overseas employment.
Based on this assurance, Janaki Raman had submitted his original passport and Rs. 1,90,000 in installments to Marcos. He suspected foul play when he realised that Marcos was doing nothing toward the job procurement and would not respond when Janaki Raman tried to contact him.
Meanwhile, Janaki Raman with the help of a few college friends approached Marcos after hearing that he had tricked five others and obtained their passports too along with Rs. 4,60,000 and absconded. Janaki Raman thereafter registered a complaint with the City Crime Branch Department on January 19, this year. The police nabbed Marcos Navamani, today.
