Coimbatore: The Anti-Child Labour Department, the Social Welfare Department and the Education Department together organised a procession to create awareness against child labour.
Coimbatore: The Anti-Child Labour Department, the Social Welfare Department and the Education Department together organised a procession to create awareness against child labour.

The procession was initiated by the District Revenue Officer, Rama Thuraimurugan.

Over 500 students took part in the procession holding placards against child labour. They created awareness against employing children under the age of 14 in dangerous jobs and to also avoid employing children who have discontinued their studies.

The awareness procession also highlighted the need to rehabilitate child labourers by enrolling them into school for education. The officers also warned that employers will be fined Rs. 20,000 and imprisoned for two years if they are found employing children.
