Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector, K Rajamani encouraged officers involved in the development plans of the Government to work with dedication.

The District Collector conducted a field inspection on the ongoing basic structural plans at Sulur, Sulur Panchayat unions and Irugur Panchayats, today. He was accompanied by Rupan Shankar Raj, Project Director of District Rural Development Agency, Dwarakanath Singh, Assistant Director of Town Panchayats, Pasupathi, Executive Engineer of District Rural Development Agency, Senthil Kumar, Regional Development Officer and Jagadeshan and Rajendran who are Executive Officers of the Panchayat.
Depending upon the population of people in the city, the Local Government Department is in the process of implementing top level reservoir troughs, fixing drinking water pipes, setting up rainwater drainage, road facilities, street lights and so on. Accordingly, under the Urban Structural Plan, a roadway costing a crore is being constructed in Ramnagar, Irugur Panchayat. The District Collector inspected the road construction work and had a direct inspection on whether the water supply occurring once in three days is sufficient for the 30,000 residents in the area. He then instructed the Panchayat officials to arrange for adequate street lights.
The District Collector also continued his inspection in the Irugur Primary Health Center's disease-prevention ward, treatment ward, uterus examination ward, outpatients ward and scan ward. He then enquired about the quality of treatment given to patients and asked the doctor present there about the requirements for the health centre. The District Collector ordered the Asst. Director of Town Panchayat to construct compound walls around the health centre, fix sufficient fans and water purifiers in the health centre.
The District Collector also visited the bus stand construction site at Sulur which is being estimated to cost about Rs. 4 crores. He then advised the Panchayat Engineers and officers to construct a proper toilet facility, drinking water, breast feeding room and seating facility for the public. He also urged them to plant trees in the barren places at the bus stand and appreciated the Project Officer of Muthukavundanpudur under Sulur Panchayat for transforming the premises that were once used as open lavatories by the public into a fruit garden and a nursery that supplies saplings to nearby Panchayats. K Rajamani also enquired about the details of Earth Worm Natural Manure costing about a lakh that was implemented under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Work Guarantee.
The District Collector then visited Kaniyur Village where he inspected the roadways under construction estimated to cost Rs. 1.55 crores stretching from the Salem-Cochin Road via Pudhupalam till Kaniyur. He also visited the construction site of Rainwater Drainage Dam in Kaniyur which is estimated to cost Rs. 1.52 lakhs. He also urged officials to work on various Government Schemes and Projects that benefit the public with utmost dedication. K Rajamani announced that field inspections will be held throughout the city.
