Coimbatore: Continuing their raid for the second consecutive week, the Coimbatore District Police upon the orders of SP Sujith Kumar IPS has nabbed a gang of 20 people for indulging in gambling.
Coimbatore: Continuing their raid for the second consecutive week, the Coimbatore District Police upon the orders of SP Sujith Kumar IPS has nabbed a gang of 20 people for indulging in gambling.
It is to be recalled that a few days back the Thondamuthur Police arrested 13 for gambling. In this scenario based on a tip-off, the Thudiyalur police arrested 20 for playing cards illegally in a Godown at Sivaji Colony.
The 20 arrested includes Vimal Kumar, Vijayakumar, Vignesh, Vairavel, Kamal Kumar. Police seized Rs. 64,780 from them and handed over to the court. All the offenders were later remanded at Coimbatore Central Jail.
In a massive clean up drive, the SP has ordered to put an end to all banned acts like selling lotteries, dealing of number 3 lottery, gambling and others. Similarly, surveillance has been intensified to 24 hours in the 16 checkpoints across the district.
Criminals those who are out on bail and repeat offenders are also strictly monitored. As a result of these control measures, more than 200 have been arrested and remanded.
