Coimbatore: The Jain International Trade Organization (JITO) presented a cheque of Rs.3.80 lakhs to the kin of CRPF Jawan Vasant Kumar, a martyr who was killed in the Pulwama attack.
Coimbatore: The Jain International Trade Organization (JITO) presented a cheque of Rs.3.80 lakhs to the kin of CRPF Jawan Vasant Kumar, a martyr who was killed in the Pulwama attack.
The cheque was presented to Sheena, widow of Vasant Kumar at a function organized by JITO, Coimbatore chapter. Kailash Jain, Chairman and Pavan Kothari, Secretary, JITO, Coimbatore chapter were present at the function.
Welcoming the guests, Kailash Jain pointed out that the Jains have always been at the forefront when it comes to serving society during natural disasters, even during the Chennai and Kerala floods. "We have always been serving the local community, wherever we were settled, though in different parts of the country. We had collected Rs.3.02 crore for the Pulwama fund and a cheque of Rs.3.80 lakh each will be personally handed over to the kin of the martyrs," he added.
On February 14, 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora in the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The attack resulted in the deaths of 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel and the attacker.
