Locals are wary that six Middle schools and two Higher Secondary schools at Kethai, Thangadu, Iduhatti and Gandhinagar may be permanently shut down owing to poor student enrollment. It is reported that steps are being taken until September to try and enroll more new students.

After receiving the petition from the MP, District Collector Innocent Divya assured that these schools would not be closed until the annual exams and awareness on education will be conducted in villages nearby the schools to aid enrollment of more students.
