Coimbatore: Being Public Grievances day today, contract workers of Moperipalayam Panchayat filed a petition with the District Collector K Rajamani stating that they were working in the Panchayat office for 12 years but were yet to receive a fair salary.
They also alleged that the permanent employees at the Panchayat office often ill-treated them and abused them verbally.

The contract workers also alleged that the permanent workers collected money from places where contract workers cleaned by using their names. Even after complaining to the executive officers, they said that no action had been initiated. Hence, they requested the Collector to take action against the permanent employees who were harassing them and to direct the permanent workers to treat them fairly as co-workers and to order the Panchayat to pay them a fair salary.
