Coimbatore : A foster mother, Jaya, hailing from Veerapandi Pudur in Coimbatore submitted a petition to the District Collector during the Grievances Day being held at the Collectorate, today. She had brought along her brother's son with her and stated that ever since her brother's demise due to an illness last year, she had been taking care of both his sons.
In her petition, Jaya claimed that the private school in the area had admitted Anrosan who was four years old under the 'Compulsory Education for All' scheme by the Government and they were informed that he will be be provided with free education from LKG to Class 8. She alleged that the school was now demanding Rs.30,000 to admit the child in LKG, this year. She also mentioned that she had already paid for the books and uniform at the school.
She alleged that the school was cheating them and requested appropriate action action against the school. Jaya also added that the child could not be sent to to school last week since the fees were not paid. She requested further probe by authorities into the functioning of such private schools who demand fees for children admitted under the scheme with Government subsidy.
