The Government Panchayat Elementary School in Thimpatti village which was opened 50 years ago catered to students from all the neighbouring areas of the village. But over the years, with parents enrolling their children in private schools desiring to give them the English medium of education, the school shut down in 2002 owing to very few students being enrolled.
In a miraculous turnaround, 17 years later, the public and youngsters in the area who sincerely worked toward reopening the school in Thimpatti village have manged to do so with 40 students, as well as following the English medium of education for the children. Many parents are reportedly showing interest to enroll their children in this school now. Amidst the increasing number of Government schools being shut down, the effort of the public in reopening a closed school is being lauded by all.
