Coimbatore: The zealous volunteers of NGO Kovai Kulangal Amaipu commenced their 122nd week of cleaning drive at Vellalore lake by setting up a third Miyawaki patch.
Coimbatore: The zealous volunteers of NGO Kovai Kulangal Amaipu commenced their 122nd week of cleaning drive at Vellalore lake by setting up a third Miyawaki patch.
To retain the lost eco system and increase the green cover at Vellalore lake bund, the NGO has been conducting a series of cleaning drives to remove garbage from the lake and rejuvenate it to a pristine condition.
Miyawaki patches were set at the lake bund to increase the green cover drastically. Following the success of Miyawaki patches in the past, the volunteers began the preliminary work for setting up a third patch.
The initial preparation for the third phase to plant trees in Miyawaki method began a week ago. Native plant saplings and organic manures were sourced and kept ready for planting today.
Over 50 volunteers took part in the drive held today.
