Coimbatore : The alert public of Kalapatti on Saturday seized a truck from Karnataka carrying wastes and allegedly attempting to dump them in the city.
Coimbatore : The alert public of Kalapatti on Saturday seized a truck from Karnataka carrying wastes and allegedly attempting to dump them in the city.
The public stopped a lorry that was parked near a water body on Vellaannaipatti road near Kalapatti here. Upon inquiry, they learnt that the waste-laden lorry was attempting to dump wastes from Karnataka in Coimbatore.
The angry public seized the lorry and informed the police and the corporation officials. The officials arrived to the spot and found wastes in the lorry.
The matter is being investigated. Similar incidents were reported in the past, during which tonnes of medical and poultry wastes from Kerala were dumped in the outskirts of the city.
