Diverse issues of manufacturing sector discussed at GMCV 2030

Coimbatore : With a focus to identify emerging opportunities for Indian manufacturers globally, GMCV 2030 (Global manufacturing cluster vision), a global event was held jointly by INTEC & CODISSIA in association with Texas Ventures at a private hotel on Saturday in the City.

Coimbatore : With a focus to identify emerging opportunities for Indian manufacturers globally, GMCV 2030 (Global manufacturing cluster vision), a global event was held jointly by INTEC & CODISSIA in association with Texas Ventures at a private hotel on Saturday in the City.



Themed 'Fostering Innovation', the 9th Edition of GMCV 2030 Conference coincided with CODISSIA's Golden jubilee celebrations. Former Presidents of CODISSIA were felicitated by the association at the event. 

As experts opine, the increasingly competitive nature of the 21st Century economy is forcing manufacturers to pursue more growth opportunities to survive, the panel of guests elucidated on the pressing need to improve the standard of manufacturing industries in India. 



Speaking on the occassion, R.Ramamurthy, President of CODISSIA recalled the recent award to CODISSIA, as India's 1 st Defence Innovation Centre.



"With this, the proposed Southern Defence Corridor comprising of Coimbatore, Salem, Hosur, Trichy and Chennai shall get strengthened along with the Atal Incubation Centre by the NITI Aayog, Govt of India, New Delhi, to nurture the Start ups", he said. 

He also noted that the two industrial parks set by CODISSIA here in 375 acres will be occupied by 320 member industries. The investment in these parks is expected to be about Rs. 3000 crores.

"GMCV 2030 embodies the spirit of initiative, Endeavour and Enterprise. The mission of GMCV 2030 conference is to provide a platform to identify leaders from Indian manufacturing industries and discuss the diverse issues of the manufacturing sector. The manufacturing industry is set to change significantly over the next five to ten years. As companies seek to localise production, there will be a significant shift from manufacturing from single location to many countries and many locations" , added the CODISSIA President.



Jairam Varadarajan, Conference Chairman threw light on the need to innovate to stay in pace with the global market. 

"Companies have to adopt to stay afloat in the competitive market. India is not in the right side of the value chain. We have to stop selling our talent for low cost, only then value of Indian talent will boost. From a person in the shop floor till the business owner, growth should be equitable " opined Jairam.
