Latha Thangam, a physically challenged women resides in Peelamedu, Lakshmipuram. She along with her four sisters Shanthi, Rani, Sheela, and Suja fell prey to the words of a man named Jayakarthik from Chennai who lured them to invest money in trading and assured them of high monthly returns.
He tricked the sisters and made them invest Rs. 84 lakhs. For a few months, Jayakarthik has paid the promised returns to gain their trust. Recently, he had borrowed Shanthi's car on the pretext of getting more investments from people and fled.
Shanthi filed a case on Jayakarthik for his planned treachery and requested the police to retrieve their money.
Based on the orders of Sumit Saran IPS, Commissioner of Police, Perumal IPS, Deputy Commissioner of police supervised the investigation. A team headed by Joint Commissioner, Chandrasekaran, and Inspector Nagaraj arrested Jayakarthik on Saturday and produced him in the court.
