Coimbatore: The Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy spoke on various issues while addressing the media at the Coimbatore Airport.
"To control the traffic in Salem, one part of the two-tier overhead bridge will be inaugurated. The drinking water scarcity was discussed and budget was allocated to tackle the issue before the elections and necessary arrangements are being made to meet the water requirements in the State," he opined. He also added that nobody protested against the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi when he said there will be a bridge across Cauvery and the Cauvery water management authority will be dissolved. The Chief Minister said that the State believes that Karnataka will release water as promised for the Kuruvai harvest.
The CM blamed the media for spreading rumours of the presence of BJP in the ADMK party and cleared that there was no truth in it. He added saying that the vote bank of ADMK was not at all affected and the recent election results were because of the lesser number of seats in which ADMK had contested. The CM also slammed DMK saying they won seats by offering false promises to the people.
Edapaddi K Palaniswamy also clarified that he never supported the 'three language formula' and it was only upon the interest of a few journalists who wished to have Tamil taught in schools of other states that he had tweeted to the Prime Minister to add Tamil as an optional language in other states. He said that the Tamil Nadu Government is staunch in standing by the 'two language formula' and claimed that his views were filtrated on purpose to create confusion.
He also questioned why the opposition never protested against the decision of late M Karunanidhi who had said that all the six accused in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case except Nalini should not be released. In conclusion of the press briefing, he also told the media that many AMMK followers are currently joining the ADMK.
