Coimbatore: In what was seemingly a planned wayside robbery in the incident involving an employee carrying jewellery from his owner's shop to Dharapuram on his two-wheeler, the police had launched a man-hunt for the miscreants based on evidence from CCTV footage in the area. The police have arrested those involved within 30 hours of the robbery and recovered the jewellery.

The police have arrested those involved within 30 hours of the robbery and recovered the jewellery.
Suresh, who has a jewellery workshop on Big Bazaar Street had given 845 grams of gold jewellery to his employee Ramamurthy to take to Dharapuram. At 10 am, when Ramamurthy was on his way to Dharapuram via Ram Nagar towards the bus stand, a two-wheeler hit his vehicle from behind.
The members of the two-wheeler pretended to help Ramamurthy but suddenly grabbed the jewel bag and escaped. Realising that it had been a planned robbery, Ramamurthy tried chasing them but in vain. He then filed a complaint at the Katoor police station.
Sumit Saran, the Commissioner of Police and Perumal the Deputy Commissioner of Police ordered a team of Inspectors Marimuthu, Sivakumar, Ravikumar and other Sub -inspectors Sastha, Irulappan and Gnanaprakasham to investigate the case. The team of inspectors began their investigation with the help of the CCTV footage from Ramamurthy's house to the spot where the accident and robbery took place.
The footage showed members of three two-wheelers were responsible for the accident. When the police arrested and enquired of Raja, it was found that an ex-employee of the jewellery shop had asked Ramamurthy often about when he will be going to Dharapuram. The police arrested four men yesterday and three today in connection with the planned crime. The City Commissioner praised the police officers for their quick action.
