Tirupur: After paying tribute to S Ridhushree of Tirupur who took her life due to a low score in NEET, the MP of Tirupur constituency, K Subbarayan urged the Central Government to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET. He also stated that all 37 MPs of DMK-allied parties would fight for the same in the Parliament.

While the state of Tamil Nadu is yet to recover from the death of Anitha who even after scoring good marks in the Board exams was unable to join the MBBS course, due to a poor score in NEET, in 2017, Tamil Nadu has lost yet another bright student to NEET pressure. S Ridhushree from Tirupur allegedly hung herself at her residence after she failed to qualify for the medical entrance examination. Her corpse was taken to the electric crematorium after autopsy procedures. MP Subbarayan took part in her last rites.
Addressing the media, K Subbarayan said, "It is saddening to know that two bright students of Tamil Nadu took their own lives because of NEET. How many more daughters of Tamil Nadu will die because of the Central Government's policy. The present BJP government implements MBBS admission based on NEET scores. According to this Government, only the upper social group can be educated and are suitable for positions, while the lower social group should oblige to only work for these top social groups," slammed the Tirupur MP.
K Subbarayan also urged the public not to be a victim of NEET and that if leaders and public fight together, NEET can be abolished. He also said that the family of the deceased are ordinary people and the Central Government cannot escape from the curse of the family that has lost its only child. The MP also requested the State Government to at least provide the parents of the deceased with compensation and a Government job.
