Tirupur : In a heart breaking incident, a 17-year-old girl from Tirupur committed suicide after she failed to qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The NEET results were declared on Wednesday noon.
S. RidhuShree from Tirupur allegedly hanged herself at her residence after she failed to qualify for the medical entrance examination.
Hailing from Velliangadu in Tirupur, RidhuShree is the daughter of Selvaraj and Rajalakshmi. Her father is working as Manager in a Private knit wear company. RidhuShree had secured 490 marks in 12th and was hopeful to qualify in NEET exams and achieve her medical dream. However her dreams were shattered after she learnt that she scored just 68 marks out of 785 (134 is the pass mark) in NEET.
Commenting on her suicide, mother Rajalakshmi said that "When the results were announced, RidhuShree was alone at home. She was very normal from morning and was talking to us casually. Even an hour before her death, I spoke to her. She said that she was awaiting the results."
"She is a very bold girl. We are unable to believe that Ridhu would take an extreme step and leave us", said Rajalakshmi who was in immense grief and was accompanied by relatives.
Police retrieved her body and sent for post mortem examination to Tirupur government hospital.
RidhuShree pursued her 10th and 12th at Jaivabai Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School in Tirupur. Her suicide news has brought immense shock and grief among her relatives and classmates.
In another disturbing incident, Vaishiya (17) from Pattukottai in Thanjavur District committed suicide by self imolating herself at her home allegedly because of failing to qualify in NEET.
