In a letter, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the farmers in Tamil Nadu.

The CM thanked the PM for having expanded the ambit of the KISAN scheme to include all land-holding eligible farmer families, for announcing the pension scheme for small and marginal farmers, as well as for the decision of the Government of India to bear the entire cost for the control of foot and mouth disease and Brucellosis in support of livestock rearing farmers.

He also thanked PM Modi for providing pension coverage to shopkeepers, retail traders and self-employed persons which he felt was a path-breaking initiative. The above schemes will provide strong social security to large sections of our society.
