Coimbatore: Parents of a newborn baby allege that a doctor at Genesis Royal Infirmary near Puliakulam treated their infant post-delivery, through WhatsApp, thus endangering their child and leaving them shell-shocked.

Rangaraj and Nithya are residents of Rathnapuri. Rangaraj works in an IT company and last October had begun fertility treatment for his wife at the Genesis Royal Infirmary. On May 1, Rangaraj had admitted his wife at the hospital for delivery.

While attending to Nithya post-delivery, the doctors reportedly sent details through WhatsApp to the Chief Doctor, Chandra. When the infant's condition turned worse, the doctors reportedly took the baby to another hospital as per their convenience.

After the parents were told by the doctors that the infant's health was deteriorating, the agitated parents staged a road roko in front of the hospital.
