Namaz at Hyderali, Tipu Sultanthakni Sunnath Jamab echoed in the morning around Poomarket area, as part of the elaborate Ramzan celebrations.
In the special prayers conducted at Karumbukadai grounds here, several thousand Muslims participated.
After offering prayers, people embraced each other and exchanged Ramadan greetings.
The needy and poor families were given sweets, rice, ghee, cooking oil etc. on the occasion to prepare the customary 'biriyani' in their homes.
