Coimbatore: Tense monents prevailed in front of the TNEB office in Tatabad after a scuffle broke out between the members of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kalagam (TPDK) and the police during a protest here on Tuesday.

More than 50 members of TPDK took part in a protest condemning the appointment of 38 assistant engineers from other states in TNEB.

They alleged that 38 engineers from other states were being given preference over candidates from Tamil Nadu for appointments to vacancies in TNEB.

They sought a high-level probe and cancel the recruitments. The aggrieved protestors raised slogans and were asked to disperse by the Police.

The police had to stop them as they forcefully tried to enter the TNEB Officer. Later, all the members courted arrest.
