Coimbatore: A meeting presided by the City Corporation Commissioner, Sravan Kumar Jatavath was held at the City Corporation office to discuss ways to provide regular water supply to residents in the city. The Municipal Administration Commissioner's Office Chief Engineer N Nagaraj, R Lakshmanan, Corporation Engineer, Administrative Engineers, Assistant Administrative Engineers and Water Supply Engineers participated in the meeting.
The water requirement of the city is currently 180 million litres per day. In the meeting, it was decided to reduce the interval between water supply to prevent wastage of water during drought, fix water leakages and strict action initiated against residents who consume more water using electric motors during the supply cycle. In such cases, it was decided that the motors will be seized and water supply disconnected. The decision was also taken to supply water through lorries to the areas where providing water through pipelines is difficult.

It was also decided that the Assistant Engineers should directly go to the area during water supply to inspection and inform the higher authorities about the grievances related to water supply in different areas. The Corporation Commissioner also reiterated that the Supervisors and Assistant Operators should monitor the surveillance of the above team of Assistant Engineers.
