His family friends R Mani (68) and M Vanaja (51), residents of NRI Avenue in Viswasapuram, Saravanampatti Sathy Main Road mortgaged their house property papers in the year 2013 for borrowing an amount of Rs.19 lakhs for their daughter's wedding.

When Srinivasan asked them back for his money, the couple kept coming up with excuses. Meanwhile, the couple reportedly complained that the original documents of their property were lost and obtained duplicate documents from the Registrar. They allegedly gifted their house to their daughter Suganya who sold it to Kunal Bothra, a resident of Chennai for Rs.50 lakhs.
On realizing that the couple had tricked him, G Srinivasan filed a complaint with the crime branch who commenced an investigation. Based on the order of Sumit Saran, the Commissioner of Police, Perumal who is the Deputy Commissioner of Police supervised the investigation. A team headed by the Joint Commissioner Chandrasekaran with Inspector Nagaraj and other police officials arrested the couple on June 3 and handed them over to the Court.
