Coimbatore: To solve the ever-persisting issue of water scarcity in the city, MP P R Natarajan met the District Collector, K Rajamani and urged him to take steps on a war footing, immediately.

During his meeting with the District Collector, P R Natarajan also discussed various issues in the city and the necessary action to be taken. Addressing the media, P R Natarajan said, "Since the city did not experience South-west monsoon rainfall this year, water scarcity was rampant across the city and necessary action ought to be taken to solve this persistent basic issue. In the areas that do not receive water supply through pipelines, water should be supplied by water lorries."

P R Natarajan had also requested the Collector not to relocate the residents of Jeeva Nagar forcefully and to permit them to live there until the Court issues an alternate order. He further highlighted the growing number of chain-snatching incidents in the city and requested that the police take necessary action to clamp such incidents.

Emphasizing that the absence of a subway in the Peelamedu area has inconvenienced the public to a great extent, P R Natarajan stated that he was going to meet the railway authorities today to appeal for the construction of a subway in Peelamedu.
