Ramzan Special train service from Coonoor to Runnymede a delight for tourists

The Nilgiris: Ahead of Ramzan festivity, the Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) has planned to operate a special train trip between Coonoor and Runnymede station from June 3-7.


The Nilgiris: Ahead of Ramzan festivity, the Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) has planned to operate a special train service between Coonoor and Runnymede stations from June 3-7. 

The 5 km stretch jolly ride will allow tourists to catch a glimpse of the picturesque blue mountains, water falls, valleys and the serene landscape. The jolly ride train service trip has made available four coaches for passengers. The train can accommodate 86 passengers, 56 in the first class and 30 in the second class. The passengers will be offered tea, biscuits and free tickets to visit Kattery Park. 



The special train will leave Coonoor Station at 11.30 am and reach Runnymede at 12 pm and then return to Coonoor at 1.30 pm from Runnymede. For an hour, the train will halt at the Runnymede Station to allow tourists a fresh breath of nature all around as well as the salubrious climate. Passengers can also visit the Kattery Park located near the Runnymede railway station. 

Bookings for a ride on the Ramzan Special train can be done at the Coonoor railway station. The cost of the tickets are fixed at Rs. 450 for first class and Rs.320 for second class.
