Coimbatore: A review meeting on the distribution of water supply during summer was held on June 2 at the Coimbatore Corporation hall, presided by Sravan Kumar Jatavath, the Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation. S Prasanna Ramasamy, the Deputy Commissioner of Corporation, R Lakshmanan, Corporation Engineer, administrative engineers, assistant administrative engineers and water supply engineers participated in the meeting. The sole aim of the meeting was to reduce the day intervals and time for efficient water supply.

S Prasanna Ramasamy, the Deputy Commissioner of Corporation, R Lakshmanan, Corporation Engineer, administrative engineers, assistant administrative engineers and water supply engineers participated in the meeting. The sole aim of the meeting was to reduce the day intervals and time for efficient water supply.
The meeting also emphasized the suggestions made by S P Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Corporations at a meeting held in Chennai on May 31. Based on his advice, the Corporation Commissioner came up with the following:
1) Reducing the timings of water supply and decreasing the date-intervals to provide regular water supply.
2) Repairing water leakages, thus reducing water wastage.
3) In the wards where Assistant Engineers are appointed, valve openers should consult with them for water supply to enhance proper drinking water supply.
4) While water is being supplied, if anyone attempts to increase the water supply by using the motor pump set, action will be taken and their motor pump set seized.
5) If the water suppliers do not work properly, then strict action will be initiated against them.
6) Ensuring enough chlorination in drinking water.
7) In the summer season where water supply is not sufficient through designated water pipes, water tankers will supply water in those areas.
The Chief Engineer of Municipal Administration, Chief Engineer and Supervising Engineers of the Water Board are planning on holding a survey meeting today where plans to devise efficient water supply to all wards based on the water available will be discussed. All engineers and drinking water supply workers were asked to work without any obligation, to identify and report the complaints of the public on the supply of drinking water.
