Coimbatore: Though hailing from Trichy, Periyasamy and his wife Lakshmi made Coimbatore their home, residing in Anna Nagar in Vadavalli for the past three years, with their three children Ragupathy, Revathi and Tamil Selvi who study at the Government High School in Vadavalli.

A year ago, while working at a construction site in Ondipudhur, Periyasamy was electrocuted and succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The owner of the construction site, Manikavasagam had promised a compensation of Rs.6 lakhs and had reportedly given the cheque to his lawyer, who in turn had given Lakshmi only a photocopy of the cheque.
Hence, Lakhsmi petitioned to the District Collector today, pleading for immediate action to help her get the compensation amount from her deceased husband's employer to ensure her children had a decent livelihood.
