Coimbatore: Vedapatti residents were shell shocked at two deaths in their locality, when an enraged husband killed his wife and then hung himself to death.
Marimuthu (65), a resident of Nanjappa Gounder Street, Vedapatti worked as a security guard in a private concern. He had frequent quarrels with his second wife Subhathal (60) account of his mentally-challenged brother Krishnan. His wife was unwilling to take care of his brother. Early this morning at about 2 am, the argument between the couple reportedly went beyond control and Marimuthu killed his wife in a fit of rage by throwing a gas cylinder on her head. She died on the spot. Later on, regretting his cruel act, Marimuthu hung himself to death by using a nylon rope.
Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the house of the deceased and informed the Vadavalli police immediately. The police handed over both corpses to the Coimbatore Government Hospital and are investigating further.
