The Honeymoon Boathouse includes a special Kashmiri Shikara boat ride and had a clean serene pathway constructed at a cost of 1 crore rupees. But the entire boathouse has dilapidated since its inception. The pathway that was near the forest area has been rendered useless due to overgrowth of bushes, and both local walkers and tourists have deserted it since it has become unsafe.
Meanwhile, Rs.48 lakhs was allotted for the renovation of the Honeymoon Boathouse. The pathways to the boathouse, the roof and the platform where the boats were anchored were renovated with this money. But tourists are irked due to lack of quality in the construction of the Honeymoon Boathouse, as well as due to the construction wastes and remains of broken boat parts being dumped in and around the area.
Hence, both locals and tourists are requesting the district authorities to speed up the renovation of the Honeymoon Boathouse.
