Coimbatore: Pongalur Palanisamy of the DMK who is contesting in the Sulur by-election as the Secular Progressive Alliance candidate has the backing of Christians according to the General Secretary of Lutharasan Munnetra Kazhagam, Dr. E T Charles and his party members.
Coimbatore: Pongalur Palanisamy of the DMK who is contesting in the Sulur by-election as the Secular Progressive Alliance candidate has the backing of Christians according to the General Secretary of Lutharasan Munnetra Kazhagam, Dr. E T Charles and his party members.
They reportedly met the the DMK by-election in-charge and ex-minister E V Velu and extended their support.
Following this, a meeting of the TELC Lutharasan Munnetra Kazhagam was held at the church, during which a resolution was made to support DMK in the by-election. "We met the DMK Chief, M K Stalin this May and assured him of the support of the Christian minority in the district. Following this, in the parliamentary elections that just concluded, Christians in all the 39 parliamentary constituencies cast their votes.
DMK will win for sure. We will support the DMK alliance in the by-election too in all the four constituencies, including Sulur. We also met the Sulur by-election in-charge E V Velu and expressed our support. There are more than 2500 christians in Irugur, Sulur, Pattanam, Samalapuram and Vaarappatti and we will vote for DMK," reiterated Dr. E T Charles.
