Tirupur : A total of 15 dyeing and printing units have been closed on the orders of the District Collector Palanisamy for violating the norms of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB).

Inspite of repeated notices to the dyeing plants to implement greener norms as prescribed by the TNPCB, the units pay heed and continue to discharge untreated effluents into the open and into canals that lead to rivers like Noyyal and other water bodies.
The 15 units were caught for violating norms and upon recommendations of the board, the District Collector ordered the closure of these units.
