In just 30 minutes of heavy rainfall and hurricane-like winds last night, over 50,000 banana trees were damaged. The destruction of these banana trees which were well-grown and ripe for harvest has caused severe loss for its farmers.
"We were farming with the help of agricultural loans, but this natural calamity has made our very survival a question mark, now. We request the Government to provide necessary compensation for our loss,” lamented farmers in the area.
