Coimbatore: Around 22 people are reported to have sustained injuries, as the tourist van they were travelling toppled on the Kallaru 2nd hairpin bend near Mettupalayam (MTP) on Monday.
Coimbatore: Around 22 people are reported to have sustained injuries, as the tourist van they were travelling toppled on the Kallaru 2nd hairpin bend near Mettupalayam (MTP) on Monday.
A tourist van with more than 30 people from Rajapalayam was returning back from the hills after visiting several tourist spots in Ooty. At around 4:30 pm, when the van reached near the 2nd hairpin bend, driver Muthuraj (40) lost control of the van, following which the van toppled into a 10ft gorge.
Sub-inspectors Baskaran, Tilak, and other policemen from MTP Police station rushed to the spot and rescued all the injured and sent them to MTP government hospital.
A total of 22 including men, women and children sustained injuries among which 5 were sent to Coimbatore government hospital for critical treatment.
The MTP Police have registered a case and commenced investigation.
