Coimbatore : The DMK Chief, M K Stalin who was campaigning in Coimbatore supporting the Sulur by-election candidate, Pongalur Palanisamy, asked for support in the Pattanam area by visiting every household. Many people posed for selfies along with Stalin during the campaign. Women welcomed the DMK Chief with a traditional 'arathi.' Stalin interacted with the public at the Panchayat Union Primary School in Pattanampudur area.
During the interaction, Stalin opined on the intention behind AIADMK’s delay in conducting the local body election saying, “The AIADMK government is not conducting the local body elections due to fear of defeat. If the local body elections happen, the basic needs of people will be fulfilled and you will not need to go in search of MLAs and MPs for your problems, but they will have to visit you.“
A resident, Gunasekar of Pattanam asked Stalin his opinion regarding the many projects given to women through women self-help groups, Stalin replied, “This is simply because women are the eyes of our country.” Stalin also took the time off to name two children in the area, calling them Kanmani and Anbazhagan. He also received petitions of Pattanam residents saying, "The AIADMK regime is the reason behind this lack of basic amenities. You should cooperate with us to send this regime back home."
