Coimbatore: A walkathon was organised in the city on Sunday to create awareness on 'Girl Child Education'.
People from different walks of life took part in the walkathon that was flagged off by DGM of State Bank of India at Race Course at 7 am. More than 150 participants holding pink balloons sensitized the public on the importance of educating girl children.
The proceedings of the event will be sponsored towards educating underprivileged girl children. A part of the proceedings will be also donated to CRY Foundation, a release from the organisers noted.
Students from Vidhya Niketan School - Arhha, Gehna, Rifaah and Farhaan were part of the organising committee.
