Police file case on IT officials for harassing Martin's cashier Palanisamy, son alleges his father was murdered

Coimbatore: Following the complaint raised by the son of the cashier of Martin group who died under mysterious circumstances here on May 3, the police have filed case on the Income tax officials who interrogated him for over two days, before his death.

On April 30, the IT officials raided the offices and properties of lottery kingpin Martin across the country. During a raid held here in the city, the IT officials took custody of Palanisamy, who had been working as a cashier in Martin's group for over 25 years. 

After two days of interrogation, on May 2 the IT officials released Palanisamy. However, on May 3, Palanisamy was found dead near a pond in Velliangadu which comes under Karamadai police jurisdiction. 

While police sources said that he had comitted suicide, however his family members and son alleged that he was subjected to immense pressure by the IT officials which led to his death. They urged to probe the case and conduct a post-mortem investigation in the presence of higher officials. 

On Saturday, Palanisamy's son formally filed a complaint with the police following which the police have reportedly filed a case on the IT officials who were involved in the interrogation of Palanisamy from April 30 to May 2

Rohin Kumar, son of Palanisamy who was a cashier in Lottery King Martin's group of companies has said that his father was murdered and did not commit suicide. 

The death of Palanisamy has been registered as suicide case. Rohin Kumar, son of Palanisamy said, "Two higher officials attached to Martin’s company could have connections to my father's death. 



I saw IT officials abusing my father physically and mentally. Among the seven IT officials, an official named Rajan assaulted my father. I will not take my father's remains if it is not taken for post-mortem. The case which was registered as a suicide case should be registered as murder case," he reiterated.
