Coimbatore : Following the complaint raised by the son of the cashier of the Martin Group who died under mysterious circumstances here on May 3, the police have filed a case on the Income tax officials who interrogated him for over two days, before his death.

On April 30, the IT officials raided the offices and properties of lottery kingpin Martin, across the country. During a raid held here in the city, the IT officials took custody of Palanisamy who had been working as a cashier with the Martin's Group for over 25 years.

After two days of interrogation, the IT officials released Palanisamy on May 2. However, on May 3, Palanisamy was found dead near a pond in Velliangadu which comes under the Karamadai police jurisdiction.

While police sources said that Palanisamy had comitted suicide, his son and relatives alleged that he was subjected to immense pressure by the IT officials which led to his death. They urged to probe the case and conduct a post-mortem investigation in the presence of higher officials.

On Saturday, Palanisamy's son formally filed a complaint with the police, following which the police have reportedly filed a case on the IT officials who were involved in the interrogation of Palanisamy from April 30 to May 2.
