Allegations have been raised against the BJP that people from Tamil Nadu are constantly overlooked in Central Government departments, especially in the railway sector. 300 youth from the Northern pat of India were selected out of 1765 candidates at the Trichy Ponmalai railway workshop. It was found that a total number of 2300 railway jobs were filled with North Indian youth, among 2600 job vacancies in the Railways. A similar bias reportedly prevails in the Postal Department also. While 90 percent of the jobs are being filled with North Indians, only 10 percent jobs go to Tamils in public sector companies across the State.

The Tamil Desiya Periyakkam (TDP) members staged a protest at Ponmalai condemning the Central Government for the blatant bias. TDP leader Maniyarasan said, “Railways is appointing Northern State youth in Coimbatore, Trichy Ponmalai and Chennai Perambur railway workshops. They have recruited 325 youth for Ponmalai, and there is not even a single person among them who is a Tamil, which is disheartening. They are neglecting Tamils not only in Railways but also in other Central Government Departments like Income Tax and PHL for the past five years. The reason is that the ruling political leaders are considering Tamils as their enemies. The BJP Government executes such bias to impose Sanskrit and Hindi languages here in Tamil Nadu. So, they are very specific that the history of the Tamil people should not prevail here, because other races than the Tamil race are linked with the Aryan race. Tamils are now competing for language, religion and ethnicity. Hence this conspiracy to destroy the ethnic group needs to be looked at as a 'Race ostracize' team activity. We staged a protest to condemn this Act. Other State people should be given preference for jobs in Tamil Nadu only after giving preference to the natives here. But sadly here in TN, except for Tamils, all others are dominating," opined Maniyarasan.
"Also, other States have implemented the law in the year 1986 which states that only after giving preferences to their own State people, others should be considered for any State Government or Central Government jobs. Our intention is to bring a similar kind of law here in Tamil Nadu," he added.
TDP has created a hashtag #TamilnaduJobsforTamil on their Facebook page condemning BJP's job allocation bias.
